About International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day or commonly known as Yoga Day is celebrated annually on 21st June. On 11 December 2014 United Nations General Assembly declared to celebrate Yoga Day on June 21. The first Yoga Day was celebrated on 21 June 2015. June 21st is selected to observe the Yoga Day as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares special significance in many parts of the world. This day is observed to give awareness of yoga and its benefits to public.
Yoga is believed to be practiced for more than 5000 years. All people without any religion, cast, creed and age are doing yoga as a part of life style. It is considered as one of the method which help people to live a happy lifestyle.
Activities and Programs on Yoga Day
Yoga Day is celebrated by organizing the activities like yoga training campus, activities to enhance the awareness about yoga and its benefits, yoga demonstrations, etc. Social media and other campaigns are done to raise awareness about yoga.
