About United Nations Public Service Day

Every year June 23 is celebrated as United Nations Public Service Day. In 2003 UN General Assembly passed a resolution which proclaimed to celebrate every year June 23 as UN Public Service Day. This day is observed to celebrate the value and virtue of public service to the community. The day also encourages young people to pursue career in public services.


Activities and Programs on UN Public Service Day

Many programs and events are conducted on this day. UN Public Service Awards (UNPSA) are given away on this day. The award is given to recognize excellence in public service at the global level and was launched in 2003. The award also promote and reward innovation and excellence in public services in support of the realization of the Sustainable Development goals (SDGs). Every year United Nations Public Service Forum takes place for two days which ends on 23 June.
