What is Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM)?

KEAM is Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical Entrance Examination conducted by ‘The Commissionerate of Entrance Examinations’ (CEE) of Kerala Government. This exam is conducted for admission to the courses Engineering, Architecture, MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Homeo, Siddha, Agriculture Forestry, Veterinary and Fisheries in Kerala. The exam is conducted once in a year.

Important Dates for Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM) 2020

Dates for KEAM 2019 are as follows.

Online Application submission: From 03.02.2019 (Sunday)

Last date for submission of Online Application including Fee payment: 28.02.2019, 5 pm (Thursday)

Downloading Online Admit Cards: From 10.04.2019 (Wednesday)

Date & Time of Engineering Entrance Examination:

Physics & Chemistry (Paper-I): 22.04.2019, 10 am to 12.30 pm

Mathematics (Paper-II): 23.04.2019, 10 am to 12.30 pm

Declaration of Results:

Result of Engineering Entrance Examination: On or before 25.05.2019

Engineering, Architecture, MBBS/BDS, Medical & Allied and Ayurveda Rank lists: On or before 20.06.2019


How to Apply for the Entrance Examination?

Application can be submitted only through the website http://www.cee.kerala.gov.in . Visit the site to apply for admission to all the courses (MBBS, BDS, Other Medical & Allied courses, B.Pharm, Engineering and Architecture).


Application Fee Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM)

All candidates except SC/ST are treated as General for the collection of fees. The fees for KEAM 2019 is as given below:

(a) Engineering only/ B.Pharm only/both Rs.700/- for General and Rs.300/- for SC Candidates

(b) Architecture only/ Medical & Allied only/both – Rs.500/- for General and Rs.200/- for SC Candidates

(c) Both (a) & (b) – Rs.900/- for General and Rs.400/- for SC Candidates

(d) ST candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.

(e) Candidates choosing ‘Dubai’ as Examination Centre will have to remit an additional fee of Rs.12000/- by way of online payment


Mode of Payment

Payment of fees can be done through the following way:

Online payment: The fee may be paid by credit card/debit card/Internet Banking.

E-challan: In case of payment through e-chalan, the payment should be made in all Head /Sub Post Offices in Kerala, in cash.


Eligibility Criteria for Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM)

I. Nativity:

Applicant should be an Indian citizen. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission. However, PIO/OCI candidates will not be eligible for any kind of reservation

Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply for the Entrance Examinations. Applicants of Kerala origin will be categorized as ‘Keralites’. Others will be categorized as ‘Non-Keralites’. Non-Keralites are classified as ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ and ‘Non-Keralite Category II’.

(A) Keralite: A candidate of Kerala Origin will be categorized as ‘Keralite’. Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non-Keralites) allotted to Kerala Cadre are deemed to be ‘Keralites’ as per G.O.(Rt.)No.822/08/H.Edn. dated 29.05.2008. But they will not be eligible for communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.

In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian Citizen of Kerala origin for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, he/she has to produce a certificate showing that the candidate or his/her father or mother was born in Kerala.

(B) Non-Keralite Category-I (NK-I):- A candidate who is not of Kerala origin but fulfils anyone of the following conditions will be categorised as ‘Non-Keralite Category I'(NK I).

(i) A candidate who has undergone qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents belong to Government of India/Defence Service, posted to Kerala.

(ii) A candidate who has undergone qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of Non-Keralite parents who are serving/served Government of Kerala for a minimum period of two years.

(iii) A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but has been a resident of Kerala State for a period of 5(five) years within the period of 12(twelve) years of his/her study.

(iv) A candidate who is not of Kerala Origin but who has undergone his/her school studies in Kerala from standard VIII to XII.

Non-Keralite Category I candidates will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats for Engineering/Architecture/Medical & Allied courses and will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.

(C) Non-Keralite Category-II (NK-II):- Candidates who do not come under ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ will be treated as ‘Non-Keralite Category-II’. They are eligible for admission to the Management Quota seats in Self-financing Engineering institutions under Government control. Non-Keralite Category-II candidates are eligible for admission to Government Seats and Management Quota Seats in Private Self Financing Engineering/Architecture Colleges. But they will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.

II. Academic Qualification:

(a) Medical & Allied Courses:

(i) For MBBS, BDS, BSMS: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/Biotechnology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together, are eligible. In the absence of Biology, Biotechnology will be considered as a subject for academic eligibility.

Only those candidates who qualify in NEET-UG as per the Qualifying criteria described in the Information Bulletin of NEET-UG and satisfying the nativity conditions shall be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS courses

(ii) For admission to BAMS/ BHMS courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, are eligible. Biotechnology will not be considered as a subject for academic eligibility.

(iii) For admission to BUMS Course: Candidates seeking admission to main Kamil-E-Tib-Wa- Jarahat (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery-BUMS) Course must have passed in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent exam with 50% aggregate marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology and 50% marks in Biology separately and the candidate should have passed (a) 10th standard with Urdu or Arabic or Persian language as a subject or clear the test of Urdu in the Entrance Exam conducted by the University or Board or Registered Society authorized by the Govt. to conduct such exam; or (b) pre-Tib exam of one year duration

(iv) For admission to B.Sc.(Hons.)Agri., B.Sc.(Hons) Forestry, BFSc courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together, are eligible. Biotechnology will not be considered as a subject for academic eligibility.

(iv) For admission to BVSc. & AH Course: Candidates should have secured not less than 50% aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for the qualifying examination, in addition to the condition as stipulated in 5 of Minimum standards of Veterinary Education Degree Course (BVSc & AH) Regulation, 1993.

(v) Eligibility of BSc. Degree holders: Candidates who have passed the BSc Degree (Three year course) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or Biotechnology as Main, and any one or two of the above subjects as Subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main & Subsidiaries taken together, subject to the condition that they have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognised as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects are eligible for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and BSMS courses.

(b) Engineering Courses:

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50 % marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission. However candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent as thereto, with 45% marks in Mathematics separately and 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission under Management Quota in Private Self Financing Engineering Colleges.

(c) Architecture Course:

(i) Minimum academic eligibility for admission to B. Arch.:

10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised Board with Mathematics as a subject of study by securing 50% marks in aggregate. OR 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognised by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks. OR International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.

(ii) In addition to the academic eligibility prescribed under clause 6.2.3 (a), only those candidates who score 40 % or 80 marks out of 200 (for all categories of candidates) in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) will be considered for admission to B. Arch. course. There is no relaxation in the minimum passing score of NATA to any category of candidate as per letter No. CA/5/Academic-NATA dated 11.03.2008.

(iii) There is no provision for lateral admission to the second year or at any stage during the 5 year course in Architecture.

III. Age:

The applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December, of the same year. Like for KEAM 2019, Age limit was the applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December, 2019. There is no upper age limit for Engineering, Architecture and B. Pharm Courses.

For Medical & Allied Courses, the upper age limit will be as per the Information Bulletin of NEET(UG).


Exam Centre for Kerala Engineering Agriculture Medical Entrance Examination (KEAM)

Entrance Examinations will be held at the selected venues in all Districts in Kerala, Mumbai, New Delhi and Dubai. No request for change in the Examination centre will be entertained.
