About World Environment Day (WED)

Every year June 21st is observed as World Environment Day (also called as Environment Day, Eco Day). This day is observed to encourage worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. The first World Environment Day was observed in 1974. WED Observation is helpful in people doing something to protect their environment.


Activities and Programs on World Environment Day (WED)

World Environment Day is one of the popular and wide-spread observing UN Day with a participation of governments, local bodies, NGOs, communities, corporations and companies, schools and colleges, celebrities, etc.

Programs are conducted around the world to raise awareness and actions to protect our environment. Some of the programs includes planting trees, exhibitions, film presentations, street plays, street rallies and parades, clean-up campaigns, etc. Social media campaigns and announcement of steps and practices to protect environment are some programs organized at different places.
